Choosing the right pistol for you

Choosing the right pistol for you is a great feeling to have. I will give you some do’s and don’ts on the process of buying your first .

  • Don’ts

If you have can not decide or do not know what type of pistol you want, you need to stay away from those people who try to talk you into the higher priced one’s. All those people are trying to do is a make a profit for themselves, not help you. I will like to give an example. You are at a gun show and approach a table and see a gun you like because of its looks. You pick it up and like the way it feels then you look at the price and see that it is somewhat reasonably priced. Lets set a fake cost of $200. The salesmen working behind the counter ask you is there anything particular that you are looking for, and you say well I have never owned a gun before and I am not sure of what I should buy. Gun dealers are usually looking for a profit and will do whatever it takes for you to buy the most expensive model right then and there. If he tells you that no, this one is not a good gun, lets look at this one (and it is more expensive) that is a red flag and you should immediately leave, and don’t worry about being rude. Just go find another dealer with the same who will not try to scam you.

  • Like all major purchase’s, take your time before you buy, this may need to save your life some day. Do research on different types of and see which one you like. The type of background you need to do is you need to hook up with somebody who has already. Someone who will be concered about you and your safety as well as your wallet. Basically not a gun sales rep. J Shoot different types of pistols to get a feel for recoil, how it feels in your hand, and how difficult to breakdown and clean. That gun that you picked out earlier that looked really cool might not shoot the way you were hopping it to. PLEASE do not pick out a just based solely on how it looks. What I mean is all shoot differently. Just because it looked cool doesn’t mean you will have the same taste for the gun after you shoot it. They have all different types of calibers for pistols so make sure you find a gun that is the right caliber for you. People might tell you to go to a higher caliber because they think a 9mm would not knock down someone. That person is wrong! Any type of caliber will work. It is all about what type of bullet you have. They have target or plinking and they have home protection or self defense . The difference is that home protection is usually some sort of a hollow point bullet. What this means is on impact it not only will go through its target, but it flattens out as well. Causing a much bigger hole in the end. That is what you want in home a protection .
  • The most important thing is to find something that feels good in your hand. God forbid anybody having to pull the trigger on somebody but in reality, it happens everyday. If you ever get put into a situation like that, you need to make sure before hand that you know that you can shoot your gun accurately under all extreme measures. And am willing to pull the trigger. If you don’t shoot when it counts then you wasted your time, money, and have greatly increased the chances you will be killed.
