The Emire Builder, as example, stops at stations with few passenger boardings. An agent is on duty only prior to the train's arrival to sell tickets and passengers hand their checked luggage directly to train crew members who stow it without any screening at all. Carry on baggage is not screened either. If you are licenced for concealed carry, don't forget your gun when riding Amtrak.
