Stock up on guns and ammunition?
Here is the question. (Or set of question’s)
From what I have been hearing, there are a lot, and when I say lot I mean boat loads of new gun owner’s and ccw registrant’s today compared to last year this time. Grandparent’s, elderly young, and all ages in between buying firearms and ammunition for the first time. Why is this? Do they know something we do not know? I keep hearing that this country is running out of ammunition, as I am sure you are hearing something similar. First off let’s get this handled. These people saying we are running out of ammunition are either lying or stupid. If you think about it, all this is, is supply side economics’. Demand is high so the price goes up, when the demand goes back down to normal the price will come back down. Ammunition production has and will be ramped up to meet the needs of the public. With that said, the same can not be said for firearm’s. In part it can be, but, it is a lot harder to ramp up manufacturing of firearm’s then it is for ammunition. Like oil the firearm manufacturer’s can implement a fake shortage in the amount of firearms in the marketplace to drive up the price. As I can see it that IS NOT happening now. They are trying to keep up with the demand and simply can not. The amount of people purchasing firearm’s for the first time is unprecedented, and the manufacturer’s can not keep up. I spoke with a gun shop owner earlier today who was telling me, that he can not get enough AR’s in stock. All he can get at one time is 3, and they are sold as soon as they hit the shop. This is down from 30 AR’s at a pop. Why AR’s? well obama has stated he will re-implement the “assault” weapon ban. OK who care’s, why so many people out buying them for the first time?
That is a very good question. I can not answer it, can you? All I will state from here on out is pure speculation, and I am in no way recommending anything is any way. Nor am I suggesting anyone do anything. That just had to be said before I continued. There are people all over the country reenacting the Boston Tea Party of the late 1700’s. problem is these people are not historical enactor’s. these are people furious with the way the country is going today. Especially with the obama spending bill. I am hearing utterance’s of a civil war breaking out. Is this why people all over the country buying guns and ammo? Or is it more likely that people are fearing that they may need to protect themselves from civil unrest? Or what is most likely is that people are afraid that with the economy the way it is, people think they may need to protect themselves and their property?
Whatever the case may be fact is, prices are going up on firearm’s and ammunition. People are scared. So what can you do about it? Not much, other then be prepared for everything. Pray for peace, but, prepare for war. If you feel the need to stock up, do it. Don’t complain about the price’s while doing it though. Don’t go crazy carrying shotgun’s and AR’s around. Act as you did 2 years ago. To be honest I carry at least 1 of my pistols at all time. Thing is, I was doing that 2 years ago. At home I keep my AR and shotgun as well as my pistol’s within arm’s reach. Was I doing that 2 years ago? No I was not. Truth be told I just don’t feel as safe as I did then. If you are like me just be cautious like I am. This is all food for thought, not a suggestion, or an order.
